Grays is a British company from Cambridge, founded in 1855 by H.J. Gray, a rackets champion. It has been making hockey sticks since the 1870s, starting with ash, and in 1998 it introduced the GX series, its first range of composite sticks. The company is still family-owned and run by the fifth generation.
For field hockey, Grays offers composite sticks (including the GX, GR and AC ranges, with the current line-up also named by bow shape: Jumbow, Probow and Dynabow), indoor sticks, goalkeeping equipment (such as the Nitro, Elite, G100 and G90 sets), shin guards, gloves, face masks and bags. The range covers juniors, club players and international-level athletes.

The Grays AC400 is a senior composite stick from the AeroCore (AC) family, built around an aerospace-grade foam core. The core absorbs impact vibration and stabilises the head, so the stick keeps control even on hard ball contact. The blade uses a Dynabow-S profile with a Vertex head - a setup aimed at ball carrying and clean striking.

Construction and specification
Bow: 24.75 mm deep, with the apex 250 mm from the head (Dynabow-S) - a versatile, near-neutral profile.
The Vertex head aids carrying and clean striking. The Low Backhand Zone (LBZ) lowers the reverse-side contact point for more stable backhand hits. The aerospace foam core drives balance and vibration damping. Intermediate carbon content keeps the stick flexible and forgiving.
