A proper bag organises your kit, protects the stick and makes sure you do not forget half your things for a tournament. Here are the types of hockey bags and what to pack for training versus a full day of competition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Types of hockey bags<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Stick bag \u2013 a narrow tube for one or two sticks, sometimes with a small pocket. The lightest option for training.<\/li><li>Combo bag \u2013 a stick sleeve combined with a large compartment for guards, shoes and clothes. One bag for all your kit.<\/li><li>Hockey backpack \u2013 a regular backpack with a tunnel or straps for a stick; handy on the way to school and training.<\/li><li>Ball bag \u2013 for coaches and parents who carry a dozen or more balls to sessions.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For training: light and quick<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>stick (head up, so it does not knock against the ground)<\/li><li>shin guards and a mouthguard<\/li><li>a glove, if you play in one<\/li><li>turf shoes or indoor shoes \u2013 depending on the surface<\/li><li>a water bottle and a small towel<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">For training a backpack with room for a stick is enough, e.g. the Ritual Covert Backpack \u2013 it holds notebooks, shoes and a stick, and looks like an ordinary city backpack.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">For a tournament: supplies for the whole day<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>two sticks \u2013 the spare saves the match when the first one breaks<\/li><li>a spare grip and stick tape<\/li><li>two pairs of socks and a change of shirt between matches<\/li><li>both pairs of shoes, if the tournament moves from turf to indoor<\/li><li>a jacket or hoodie for breaks \u2013 you cool down quickly on the pitch<\/li><li>water, isotonic drink and snacks: bananas, bars, sandwiches<\/li><li>a small first-aid kit: plasters, elastic bandage, cold pack<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">This is where a combo bag comes in.
